First adult weekend

This weekend was memorial day weekend and the first adult weekend of the season at getaway. Basically, adult weekends are awesome! We go from being all about the kids during the week to being a party central at the weekend.  It was also my first weekend lifeguarding which was also awesome.  Lifeguarding in a bikini,  jumping in the lake, going trips on the boat... living the life. I was also dancing in a show on Saturday night to open the dance.  The theme was heaven and hell and I was dress as a (very slutty) angel. It was such a good night cant wait for the next show! I was off on Sunday as well which made the night even better knowing I could sunbathe by the lake all day.. and that's exactly what I did. So the adults left on Monday and it was back to groups of kids on Tuesday.  There's such a contrast but thats what makes working here so exciting.  I love it so much its feels like home. And its been 4 weeks already!! Going far too fast

Update

The last few days have been hectic as usual here at getaway. I've had my own group pretty much every day. Some of which I love and some I cannot wait to send home at the end of the day :) but that's just the perks of the job. Feel as though I can't complain too much though as I absolutely love it here! Getting paid (very little) to do crazy dances, play crazy games and have fun all day isn't the worst job in the world! It is literally non stop from 8am until 7pm or later everyday. Guarantee I will never have another job where I work as hard. Love it

New York

Yesterday Siobhan, Becca, Danny and I went to New York for the day. We met Marcus at half 7 and he took us to the train station. The train took around 2 hours to get into Grand Central Station which was so cool. We then found a proper America diner to get pancakes, waffles, bacon, maple syrup the lot amazing. It was then onto Rockefeller to buy our tickets to go to the top. Our time slot was 2.30 so we had a few hours to hit the shops like a + f and Hollister. The top of the rock was awesome! We could see the whole city - statute of liberty, Manhattan, central park. My favourite view was of Manhattan. We then got pizza and headed for the Nike store which was huuuge (still didn't have any trainers I wanted). We spent good while in the Nike store before heading to Times Square. Went into the Disney store and all the tourist shops, took plenty of pics, ate a hotdog with mustard then headed back to Grand Central to head home to camp. Best day so far :)

Chipmunk

So a chipmunk broke into our cabin, burst into a Walmart bag under my bed, chewed through my big bag of m&ms and ate the majority of the bag! So there will be a fat ass chipmunk on a sugar high kicking about getaway somewhere...

Triple zip

Triple zip is pretty much what it says ok the tin. 3 zip lines with a climbing wall to get up on to the platform. This is part of the ropes team activities and its good fun but a killer to work at when the sun is out. Happy days

Chipmunk

Just a pic of a cute chipmunk

Spider

Found what I believe to be a massive wolf spider. Also came across a eastern water snake, a toad, loads of chipmunks, turkey buzzards, geese and of course the resident black bear

The season begins

So yesterday was the first day I had a group. Danny and I had 21 kids from NY aged around 10 and they were great! We went to triple zip (a triple zip line), aerial park, played crazy games, sang crazy songs, went to a dance party and filled them with ice cream before sending them all hyped up on a coach back home. Amazing.
Today I was on ropes so Sam and I headed for aerial park first. It was going well until one person got so exhausted they couldnt go any further. So I got my first ropes rescue on the most awkward part of aeiral park. It wasn't easy but with a bit (a lot) of team work, we belated her safely to the ground. The rest of the day ran smoothly apart from some rain and thunder, but who cares when you have the best job ever :D

Silent disco

The entertainment crew put on a silent disco for the rest of us which was amazing!

Aerial park

This is the new aeriel park at CG. Definitely my favourite activity to do and work on

Journey

Flying in to JFK, NYC

first week at club getaway

So my first week here has been crazy. Arrived very late on May 1st after being awake for almost 24 hours! Everyone was tired and jetlagged. We had some food, had a quick introduction to some staff and... oh yeah.. a warning about the male black bear that had set up camp on, well, the camp...standard! Once we had been assigned our cabins we pretty much got straight to bed. No long lie for us the next day!
We were up and out for breakfast at 8 next morning where we had some more introductions etc then on to work. 'Kevin time' was a main part of the first few days.  Basically a guy called Kevi who does ice breaker and team building activities.  Sounds terrible but it's actially really fun. Kevin also builds all the high ropes courses here at getaway therefore there is a high ropes team which I am now part of.
The first week involved a lot of training in all areas.  We were trained on aeroball, bungee trampolines, zip lines, rock climbing, aerial park, giant swings, hikes, inflatables,  climbing wall (deep breath) so it was pretty hectic to say the least.
During the firt week we also encountered our first team night out at KPs or Kent Pizza Garden to give it the correct name. what a night.  Everybody was in such a good mood dancing and drinking together,. Definitely the best kind of team building if you ask me :)
The following day we were all off for the whole daynso everyone went into Kent. Knt is a small, traditional town around 1 mile from getaway so easy enough to walk to. We done some laundry and ate some hamgover pizza and just chilled which was nice.
